Attorney at Law
Laura B. Barletta
A former prosecutor with extensive trial experience, Laura brings a unique level of understanding of complex family law issues that is a coveted benefit for our firm and our clients.
A graduate of Endicott College, where she majored in criminal justice and psychology, she continued her education and earned her law degree from New England School of Law. Upon graduation she worked for four years as an assistant district attorney under Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.
In the DA’s office, she supervised the domestic violence unit and saw firsthand the wreckage that is often associated with contentious divorces. She also dealt extensively with substance abuse and addiction, custody issues, physical abuse and financial malfeasance. She prosecuted felonies and misdemeanors and developed strong litigation skills, including trying many cases before juries.
In addition to her courtroom work, she volunteered in the Lawrence Public School system, teaching mock trial courses to children. She found this work rewarding because many of the children she worked with came from families that were dealing with significant challenges including legal, financial and personal.
